Jewish Wedding at Millennium Gloucester Hotel, Kensington

Jewish wedding of Ross and Megan

On 29th July SupaTight were invited to perform at the Jewish wedding of Ross and Megan at the beautiful Millennium Gloucester Hotel in Kensington, London. The wedding breakfast and evening party took place in the conservatory. This is a beautiful event space with glass walls and ceilings, space for a stage and a podium in the centre of the room.

Here is what Ross and Megan had to say about our service and performance:-

SupaTight played at our Jewish Wedding in London last weekend for 120 guests and absolutely smashed it! We had so many positive comments from our guests about how talented they were, they had us dancing all night and honestly a bit startled as to how good the singers are live.

Geoff has to get a mention for being so professional leading up to the day, it was a total pleasure to deal with SupaTight from start to finish. We can’t wait to see the wedding video! Thank you for making our wedding day so special. Your singers and musicians were a pleasure to have, what lovely people! Book these guys now, it’s a no-brainer…

The band line up on the day was a 9 piece with Damion, Katy and Kyra on lead vocals, 2 brass section, bass, guitar drums and keyboards.

Both Ross and Megan initial mentioned that they wanted a band full of great musicians and a fantastic set list but all so a band that could interact with the guests a lot and also make use of the podium in the centre of the room. This is exactly what we did and made sure we gave them a wedding party to remember. All 3 singers were out on the podium at every given opportunity.

As the venue had a lot of glass in it we wanted to make sure that we compensated for this and made sure our sound engineers were at the venue for midday to set up and test the sound levels. The system used was a concert standard Dynacord Cobra 8K front of house system. We also used full in ear monitoring for all band members to reduce the stage noise to a minimum, thus allowing the engineers to have full control of the sound from the main front of house speakers. Using the in ear monitoring systems also means that the stage area can be kept looking tidy and slick without any big amps cluttering the space up – much more aesthetically please.

On the day our band leader and coordinator David Dorward was in charge of running the show and made sure everything ran smoothly as usual. Dave liaised with the toastmaster and venue managers to check timings were running to plan and made sure the band members were on stage exactly when required.

The format of the day was set out to start with the entrance of the bride and groom into the room at 5.45pm. Usually at Jewish wedding we would play the bride and groom in with an Israeli dancing song but Ross and Megan wanted something a little different and opted for the song Miami by Will Smith. This went down a storm and filled the dance floor instantly. We segued the end of the song into Siman Tov Mazel Tov and carried on into our uplifting Jewish dancing sets.

We worked closely with Ross and Megan to ensure they got the set lists they wanted on the night of their wedding. The first dance chosen was I’ll Always Be Right There by Brian Adams and the band learnt this and played it live for them at the beginning of the 3rd set. It was decided that there would be 4 sets including the Israeli dancing set with 2 between courses and then one longer set after dinner. Below are the evening timings and set list that we performed on the night.
